Signs of Aging Skin
As we age, our skin loses its ability to repair itself. The first signs of aging are often fine lines and wrinkles, which often begin to appear from the age of 25, which can show first as creases at the corner of your eyes called crow’s feet. Loss of volume, thinning, dullness and sagging of the skin then become more noticeable over time. Other common signs of aging includes discoloration, such as age spots and broken blood vessels. While aging is inevitable, a healthy lifestyle and quality skin care routine which includes anti-aging ingredients will help to slow the process and ensure skin looks plump and healthy it’s whole life. Kiehl’s anti-aging skin care products draw from nature and science to fight to fight the common signs of aging so that you can feel and look your best at any stage of life.
What Causes Skin Aging?
How skin ages depends on a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle and personal habits. The sun is one of the largest culprits to the aging process. Repeated exposure to the sun’s ultra-violet light damages the skin’s elastin fibres which reduces skin’s ability to “bounce back” after stretching. Products containing sunscreen should be applied daily to prevent damage caused by UV rays.
Another major contributor to skin aging is oxidative stress which occurs when there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in your body. Free radicals are caused by over exposure to the sun, smoking, pollutants, and an unhealthy diet. This leads to premature signs of aging including uneven skin tone and texture, dullness, dehydration, fine lines and wrinkles, and sagging of the skin. Anti-oxidant packed, vitamin infused and pollution blocking skincare will help to re-balance skin and fight the oxidation process.
Dehydration is a major cause of premature aging and skin sensitivity. When skin is dehydrated, skin can appear flaky and uneven and eventually lead to fine lines and deep wrinkles. To avoid dehydrated skin, you should ensure that at least 6-8 glasses of water per day is consumed. Consumption levels should increase when exercising. A good skin care routine will help to fight dehydration. Look for products containing plant based Glycerin, such Kiehl’s Cucumber Range and Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate, and Squalane, such as Midnight Recovery Eye and Ultra Facial range, which helps to draw and retain moisture in the skin. Vitamin A, such as Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado , will help to protect and moisturise the delicate under eye area.
